Member service center lobbies closed beginning Monday, March 16

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s member service center lobbies are closed to the public beginning Monday, March 16, to protect the health of the cooperative’s members and employees during the Coronavirus outbreak. The member service center’s drive-through lanes will remain open.

According to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, two counties – Hays and Travis – in Bluebonnet’s service area have confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the Coronavirus.

“Closing our lobbies is the prudent and responsible thing to do to prevent or slow the spread of the Coronavirus in our communities,” said Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “We made this decision in the best interests of the communities we serve and to protect the health and well-being of our members and employees.

“We will continue to provide outstanding service to our members through our drive-through lanes, call center, automated phone system, website and mobile app. We greatly appreciate our members’ patience and understanding. We must work together to get through this challenge,” Bentke said.

Bluebonnet’s drive-through lanes at its five member service centers in Bastrop, Brenham, Giddings, Lockhart and Manor will be open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Member service representatives will be available by phone at 800-842-7708 during business hours, or by email at Members can make payments after hours using drop boxes in the drive-through lanes.

Members can take advantage of Bluebonnet’s automated tools to make payments and transact other business. Use our automated phone system 24/7 by calling 800-842-7708. Pay online at, or by downloading the free mobile app on your smartphone.

“Bluebonnet’s employees provide an essential service to our members and communities,” Bentke said. “We are taking the necessary steps to protect our employees and prevent or limit their exposure to the Coronavirus. We will monitor our employees’ health and spread of the Coronavirus during this outbreak to ensure that we continue to serve our members.”
