Bluebonnet to upgrade power lines in western Washington County

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative members in western Washington County will experience two temporary power outages Wednesday, May 29, as crews complete an upgrade to electric distribution lines. The upgrade will increase the voltage carried through the power lines and is needed to continue to reliably serve the growing demand for electricity in the area.

The first outage will occur between 9 and 10:30 a.m., and will affect about 200 members near FM 2502, FM 389, Brandt Road, Sawmill Road, Grote Road, Sacred Heart Road, Rolling Creek Road, Bednar Lane, Brice Lane and Sereniti Lane.

The second outage will occur between 1 and 2:30 p.m., and will affect about 100 members near FM 2502, FM 389, Sawmill Road, Horak Road, Latium Cemetery Road, Eckermann Road and Wagner Road.

“Safety is our top priority on every job,” said Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “We will have more than 110 Bluebonnet employees and contractors, and about 60 vehicles in the area working to complete this conversion with as little impact on our members as possible. We take every precaution possible to make these jobs safe, and ask that residents in the area be cautious and aware of our crews.”

Bluebonnet will also call every member who will be affected by the outage to inform them of the day and period of time they will be without power.
