Bluebonnet hosting fourth annual Solar Day event in Brenham

Bluebonnet’s Eco Home in Brenham has a solar array capable of generating five kilowatts of power. The Eco Home was built with energy-smart technology, including a wind turbine, energy-efficient appliances and a geothermal heating and cooling system. Solar Day attendees can tour the Eco Home during the event on Sept. 14, 2019.

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, in conjunction with Texas Solar Energy Society and Solar Austin, will host its fourth annual Bluebonnet Solar Day on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019. The event is part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour.

The free event is open to the public and will be held in two sessions – at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. – at Bluebonnet’s Brenham Service Center and Eco Home, 2601 Longwood Drive. Attendees can enjoy free breakfast tacos, coffee and juice and enter to win one of three $50 solar-charged power banks, which can charge a smartphone or tablet at the same rate as a wall charger.

During the event, the Texas Solar Energy Society will host an installer fair. Guests will learn how solar energy works and how to connect to Bluebonnet’s grid. They will also be able to visit with homeowners who have solar panels and tour Bluebonnet’s Eco Home.

Attendees may pre-register. For more information on Bluebonnet’s Solar Day, go to the event page on Bluebonnet’s Facebook page or contact Bluebonnet’s member services at 800-842-7708 or
