Bluebonnet hosting third annual Solar Tour in Manor

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, in conjunction with Texas Solar Energy Society and Solar Austin, will host its third annual Solar Tour on Saturday, Sept. 29.  The event is part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour.

The free event is open to the public and will begin at 9 a.m. at Lagos Elementary School, 11817 Murchison St., in Manor. Guests will learn about solar energy and how to connect solar arrays to Bluebonnet’s electric grid.

Texas Solar Energy Society is hosting an installer fair. Kids can build and race solar cars courtesy of Solar Austin. Attendees can enjoy free breakfast tacos, coffee and juice and enter to win prizes, such as a solar backpack that can charge your phone or other electronic devices during a hike.

Maps will be available to direct guests on a self-guided tour of three nearby homes with solar installations.
