Q: I’ve had a few recent problems with misplacing my electric bill and not paying on time, but I’m nervous about switching to an online account. Can you tell me a little more about how that works?

A: I feel your pain about missing payments, but going paperless is a great solution. We all know that bills sometimes get misplaced, mail can be delayed, and holidays and bad weather can trip up the process. Signing up for paperless billing is a breeze.

First of all, if you haven’t already, you’ll need to create an online account. Just have your recent Bluebonnet bill handy along with a valid email address. At bluebonnet.coop, click on Register in the top right corner of the home page. You’ll see our user-friendly tutorial that walks you through the process of creating an online account that’s available 24/7.

Once you’ve logged into your account, click on the Billing & Payments tab to view and pay your bill. You can pay by credit card or through your checking account. In the right-hand column, click on Enroll in Paperless Billing to start receiving emails when your bill is ready to view.

Worried about whether the emails will actually arrive? Once you sign up for paperless billing, you’ll get an email from us thanking you for signing up. This ensures that your email program will accept our email address. If it bounces back, we’ll contact you by phone to verify your email address.

Don’t have a computer? With a smartphone, you can view your bill on our free mobile app for iPhone and Android devices. You still need to create an online account, but once you log in to the mobile app, you can view and pay your bill anytime, anywhere!
