Dealing with it
Oops — you’re late paying your electric bill.
But are you too late?
Bigger oops — your electric service has been disconnected.
What can you do about it?
Delinquent Payment
- You have 16 days from the date of issuance to
pay your electric bill. Payments received after 16 days
are considered delinquent and you will be charged a late
payment fee of $5.00 or 5%, whichever is greater, of the
total.
- Bluebonnet will send you a delinquency notice when a payment isn’t received by the due date. Once
the notice is issued, you have ten days to pay your electric
bill or your service becomes at risk for discontinuation.
- If your electric service is discontinued for bill
non-payment, you must pay the full amount owed,
a reconnect fee and a deposit if applicable. Payments
are not accepted at your location. You must pay the full amount
Member Service Center or by calling 1.800.842.7708
Discontinued Service
- Your electric service may be discontinued if you
fail or refuse to pay Bluebonnet according
to your electric-service agreement or rules, applicable
rate schedule or deferred payment.
- At least ten days before your electric service is
scheduled to be disconnected, Bluebonnet will
mail a notice featuring the words “discontinuation
of service.” The disconnection day cannot fall on
a weekend day or holiday, but will fall on the next business
day after the tenth day.
- You can stop the disconnection by paying your full balance
within the ten-day period at a Member Service Center or by calling 1.800.842.7708.
- If Bluebonnet must dispatch an employee for
disconnection of a delinquent bill, then you must pay the
applicable fees.
Fees and rules subject to change by the
Bluebonnet Board of Directors.
