High temperatures prompt Bluebonnet to postpone planned outages in Washington County

Bastrop – Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative postponed two planned outages Tuesday in western Washington County due to higher-than-normal forecast temperatures. The outages were scheduled so Bluebonnet could complete a system upgrade that will increase the voltage carried through the power lines.

“Planned outages are a necessary part of upgrading our electric distribution system to provide reliable service to a growing number of members,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “But we always monitor the weather, especially during summer months, to make sure planned outages don’t put an unnecessary burden on our members. We decided Tuesday’s temperatures were too hot to go forward with this outage.”

The planned outages were going to affect co-op members in the U.S. 290 corridor between Brenham and Burton.

Bluebonnet will monitor forecast temperatures in the area and will determine when to proceed with this system upgrade and planned outages.  No date has been scheduled yet. For more information, go to bluebonnetelectric.coop and click on Planned Outages in the Need to Know section.
