Bluebonnet and LCRA Award Community Development Grant
to Chappell Hill Historical Society

(Chappell Hill) – With the help of a $17,012 community development grant from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and the Lower Colorado River Authority, the Chappell Hill Historical Society will be able to purchase new air conditioners and repair roofs at various historical properties in Washington County.

“We are very appreciative of the generous grant from LCRA and Bluebonnet for the repair and restoration of the Chappell Hill Museum and Rock Store,” said Lewis Houser, Chappell Hill Historical Society. “We are very grateful these organizations are concerned with our community.”

The grant is one of several awarded through LCRA’s 2010 Community Development Partnership Program, of which Bluebonnet is a partner. The program provides economic development and community assistance grants to cities, counties, volunteer fire departments, regional development councils and other non-profit organizations in Bluebonnet and LCRA’s electric and water service areas as part of their concerted effort to give back to the communities they serve.

“This grant helps the Historical Society accomplish its mission of preserving the past to share with future generations,” said Vance Hamilton, Bluebonnet’s Brenham Community Representative. “I’m proud to work for a company that has Community as one of its six Foundation Values. These grants are an excellent demonstration of Bluebonnet’s commitment to its members and the communities where we live and work.”
